CITIZENS ALLEY

Local Motives has stepped in as the interim operator of Citizens Alley, a year-round public plaza that opened in downtown Minot in Summer 2025. Developed by Aksal Group, the plaza features turf, pop-jet fountains, public art, a winter ice rink, and flexible spaces designed for sports, markets, concerts, and community events.

 

Since opening, Citizens Alley has quickly become one of downtown Minot's most active gathering places, where recreation, arts, and community life come together across every season. Families cool off in the fountains, neighbors gather for pickleball and chess, children learn to skate in the winter, and thousands of residents and visitors attend concerts, markets, festivals, and other public events throughout the year.

 

Designed to adapt to the community's changing needs, the plaza supports both spontaneous everyday use and large-scale programming, creating opportunities for people of all ages to connect with one another and with downtown. More than a public space, Citizens Alley has become a catalyst for community life and downtown revitalization, demonstrating how thoughtful placemaking, strong partnerships, and local leadership can transform an underused space into a destination where people continue to gather, create traditions, and build lasting connections.
