ABOUT LOCAL MOTIVES

A BRIEF, BUT IMPACTFUL HISTORY
What began in 2019 as a simple idea - to create community, focus on placemaking, and show up in a grassroots way - quickly grew into something more meaningful. Local Motives launched with small, intentional projects designed to bring people together in shared spaces and spark joy through creativity and connection.
From spontaneous pop-ups to thoughtful public art and heartfelt community events, these efforts became more than one-time happenings. They became memories etched into the lives of those who experienced them.
Local Motives remains rooted in the belief that building a better community doesn’t always require grand gestures - just a clear purpose, a bit of imagination, and a lot of heart.
WHAT WE DO
Every project begins with a simple idea: create places and experiences that inspire people to connect, participate, and take pride in where they live. Local Motives works alongside residents, artists, businesses, nonprofits, and local leaders to transform everyday spaces into vibrant destinations through creative programming and thoughtful design. Our work includes neighborhood walks, town hall meetings, and workshops that invite residents to help shape Minot's future; public art installations that celebrate local creativity; and the development of pocket parks, gardens, beautification projects, and welcoming public spaces. We also offer placemaking workshops that empower others to create positive change and activate public spaces year-round with pop-up markets, concerts, recreation, film screenings, and community events that encourage connection, creativity, and belonging.
